After many years away I looked forward to eating at the first place I'd ever eaten a gyro, and fallen in love with them. I couldn't have been more disappointed. I happened to be in the area on their BOGO day. Maybe that is why it wasn't good. The place had maybe about 100 already made gyros stacked up on a shelf behind the counter. I ordered my gyro and the guy stuck 2 in a bag and gave my food. They were cold and soggy. They never used to have BOGO. I think it may be different owners. There was always the same guy (I think his name was Chris, and he owned the place) Everything was made to order. Hot fresh delicious. Maybe the fact they stack them up to handle the demand of BOGO is why it wasn't good. I don't really know. They've also expanded. They've knocked out a wall and added pizza on the other side. It kind of looked like a different business, but it was connected so I'm not sure. I hope the bad food was a fluke because I've really missed those gyros.

I absolutely love this place. Have lived in Palm Harbor all my life and Gyro King is a staple. Best Gyros around. Friendly staff who all seem to have worked there for a long time. Always a face I recognize. Wednesdays are two for one gyros! And the pizza right next door is great too! Highly recommended!

Great food. I've had their cheesesteaks and their pizza. The cheesesteaks ARE yummy and their pizza is pretty good too. Try their Lasagna pizza, no pasta on it but their special sausage, ricotta and some other stuff, it's really yum. I can't eat more than one slice. Their spinach pizza is good too, more like a spanakopita in pizza form that the Italian version as they use feta, but still good. Lacking in any kind of atmosphere, which is why it got a 4 instead of 5 stars.

Staff are nice. Sicilian pizza is great! It doesn't look like much on the outside but once you come in you won't be disappointed. Lasagna pesto soup is good.

Great food and great cooks, and also great deals. Friendly staff. A lot of sitting places.

This is garbage put together by high schoolers working a deep fryer. If you want a good Gyro go 3 miles up the road to the sponge docks. Don't understand the good reviews.

Awesome Gyros but really have the best Philly Cheesesteaks in Tampa Bay. They make them any way they want them, have the wiz and an awesome steak sauce on the side. Highly recommended.

Fast, cheap, yummy. Key is to not order the BOGO items. The First visit, we had the BOGO cubans...hence the previous unhappy review. This time we were HUNGRY and got a reg. gyro, Jr. Gyro, 10 mild wings, and cheese fries (Oink oink)!! The large gyro was too much for hubby to eat, the Jr. Would've been perfect for him. But the taste was dead on perfect. They had a lil sauce inside to flavor the meat, and a small side of sauce to use while eating :) The wings were AMAZINGLY crunchy! We wished they had some buffalo or wing sauce on em. They were dry wings and had ranch for dipping. The cheese fries were kick A$$ :) Now off to digest and run the guilt away. Soooooo worth it! Btw we couldnt even come close to finishing any of it.

I've been around the world and have spent substantial time in all but four US States ......and this may not be the best pizza and baked ziti on this planet, BUT it sure as hell is my favorite in Florida. They have daily specials beyond what is INCREDIBLE food, and ALREADY reasonable prices. My only complaint is their beer selection. SUCH a shame to have sub par beer served right beside such INCREDIBLE food.

Sadly, I must give a negative review. I really try to avoid negative reviews, but this was earned and I hope any customers learn from my review so they don't encounter the same pitfalls. We have dined at this location many times on Alt 19 in Palm Harbor. If you eat there, you have a much better experience When they/ if they mess up your order, at least you are there to remedy it. Our 2 negative experiences were "to go" issues. 1- ordered catering food week ahead. When we got there to pick up food, they had no food/ no order! Had to wait and food was late for party. 2- ordered plain steak sandwich and of course it was loaded with onions and cheese. I asked the lady at check out about the order to double check it before I left. She was matter of fact about it being right. Got home and now son won't eat it. I called the restaurant and the kid was of little help and concern. "I can credit the sandwich" was what he was willing to do. Problem is I didn't want anything for free- just for them to care and be more careful. Especially when they give attitude when questioning the order at check out. My suggestion is if you go, open the order and check everything BEFORE you leave.

My last two visits here were not impressive. I went today and it was lousy. The gyro meat was cold and dry, the french fries were under-cooked, and the pita bread wasn't even heated. I could ignore the borderline filthy condition of the seating area if the food was good. It wasn't. What a disappointment. I think I'm done with this place, and only nostalgia kept me from giving it one star.

This is our favorite spot to get a gyro! My husband also loves their french fries. They have great wings also. We've tried their Brock oven pizza once and it was delicious.

This place has the best gyro in Tarpon Springs. I've been here 4 times and each time all the food was great. Other than the gyro, the wings are excellent and very spicy. You can tell they are not frozen. The pizza is also fresh and excellent. This is now my favorite place in Tarpon Springs.

If you go to Gyro King, get the Gyro. It's awesome, and the service is super nice and super fast. I can run out during my half hour lunch break and get back with enough time to eat. I'll keep going back!

Great gyros and fantastic cheese steaks! they pride themselves on having very authentic Philly Cheese Steaks (Wiz included). My wife and I are huge fans of this place, and its family owned.

2/1/12 I've eaten at Gyro King ~6 times since my first review. Still great as always and they've added a nice brick oven pizza section right next to it. I haven't found any better gyros in the area. 9/1/2011 You know you've hit the the jackpot when you're grabbing a late dinner at 8:30pm, the rain is pouring down, and there's a line of hungry diners that stretches from the counter back to the front door. You also know you've landed at Gyro King. I scoured the restaurant review sites for this area looking for the best gyros in town, and Gyro King was at or near the top on every list. It's a well-deserved reputation. I haven't had every gyro in the world, but I've had them from Greece to the west coast, and GK's gyro is one of the finest I've ever had. Gyro King is located in a small strip center, with about 7-8 tables and 3 TV screens to the right of the ample counter area. In fact, the area allocated for lines at the order/counter is about 20 feet deep, and I'm betting there are days they need every bit of that space. Nothing fancy going on here, everything is very clean and neat, and you couldn't care less once you're eating GK's tasty food. I got a gyro for dine-in and a steak (actually, the "Steak Bomb" with provolone/onion/peppers/mushroom) to go, as both sandwiches were highly recommended on the review sites. The gyro was packed with hot, moist meat fresh off the spit, served on a warm, very tasty pita. Seems like so many gyros seem to have second-rate pitas. Gyro King makes no such mistake, The gyro could have easily filled me up, but I decided to take one for the team, as the lure of making sure I tried the steak fresh and hot was too great. Gyro King makes no mistakes, and absolutely nails the classic steak by piling huge servings of moist/hot steak that overflows the fresh Amaroso bread brought in straight from Philly. I had planned on just taking a few bites for a taste test, but found it impossible to resist eating the half I picked up. GK's meat seems to be sliced just a bit thicker than Delco's (the best I've had in the area before trying GK's), and choosing between the two will now be a tossup for me, with a slight edge going to GK for the abundance of steak crammed inside the Amaroso. Service was fast and friendly, with the sandwiches served up promptly in spite of the busy line of customers. The young lady at the counter was handling all the orders with ease and friendly conversation, More big bonus points for their carrying at least a few brands of beer to wash down their great food. I'm sure there are reasons most sandwich shops don't bother with it (licensing, I'm guessing), but I'd just say a big thanks to the GK owners for this detail. It really put the meal over the top. And finally, as if there isn't anything more that could make Gyro King a must visit, check out their website for great weekly specials, like 2-for-1 gyros served every Wednesday from 3pm to closing (10pm nightly, except for 9pm Sundays). I've found no better value for reasonably priced, great food in the area. I'm definitely headed back next Tuesday to try their 2-for-1 special on hot-pressed Tampa Cubans, and to try a Chicago-style Italian beef. The menu is very complete for a simple sandwich shop, and I'm looking forward to more visits to try things out. Atmosphere: 4 Food: 5 Service: 5 Value: 5 (and if my 5-point scale allowed it, I'd double that for their 2-for-1 specials)

For five years we have been getting Greek take out here. Never a complaint (except I miss their sampler Sunday platter). Buy one get one free Gyro Wednesday is a family favorite. Everything on the menu is good and fast, so much so that the line on Wednesday can get pretty long. For take out, I like it here, sometimes I get a gyro and go eat it on the beach! Keep up the good work guys!

Live right around the coorner, so this is a place we frequent. Great chicken souflaki and gyros. Burgers are excellent, but dont slop on too much as I feel like the lettuce tomatoes and stuff and pretty limp. Everything is pretty salt and always greasy. Love it or leave it, its a pretty good greasy-spoon with a greek twist. Their pizza is FANTASTIC!!

Have picked up a few times from Gyro King/Brick Oven Pizza. They do some things very well, specifically gyros and cheese steaks. Both are packed with a lot of meat - if you are all about meat, this is your place! I usually like a little more tomatoes, onions, and tzatziki and a little less meat on a gyro but I think I'm not the norm. Have also tried their meatball sub, french dip, chicken souvlaki, fried stuff, cannolis, and pizza and not been super wowed. Wed is BOGO Gyro night and they have weekday specials that make for cheap eats! Super friendly staff and always busy.

Gyros are fresh off the spit. Every single time I am in Tarpon I come to Gyro King because of how delicious the gyros are. After driving 17 hours from Philadelphia to Tarpon I made Gyro King the first stop. Being from Philadelphia I was very skeptical of their cheesesteaks but after trying one I was pleasantly surprised. They actually import authentic Amoroso rolls from Philadelphia. Anyone who calls labels themselves a cheesesteak connoisseur knows that the bread choice is critical. Amoroso makes a fresh, fluffy roll which goes perfectly with Gyro King's steak.

The exterior and really, the interior as well, really don't make this place super attractive. That said, the food is quite good. Prices are definitely reasonable and portions are ample. If you're looking for ambience, go elsewhere. If you want some good grub and a decent price, made to order, this could be your joint. They have a daily special that you should definitely look into. Call them and they'll tell you over the phone, totally cool like that. All the dudes working in their said hello and were friendly the last time I went in. In-laws had Philly cheesesteaks, which are as big as you get in Philly (and they really liked them), wife had a chicken souvlaki with feta (she loved it), and I pillaged their gyro...wicked good. This joint is not a typical Greek restaurant as they have a limited number of Greek offerings. They serve all kinds of different sandwiches, burgers, fries, that sort of thing--kind of like to go bar food. You can get pizza on the opposite end of the restaurant and they even serve slices there. I checked it out--their slices looked purdy good to me, especially the Sicilian cuts...thems wuh monsta sized! Wednesday is buy one get one on gyros, but for carry out only, so call in your order there. Good food, good prices, good dudes inside. Call in your order and eat it at home.

Legit Gyro and chicken souvlaki. Wednesday is bogo gyro. I wish I lived nearby. Sadly, I live up north and there are no Greek places. This is a must stop when I am in town. Interior is nothing special. It always looks clean inside. Tzatsiki sauce is very smooth. Pita is soft, warm, and fresh . Seriously, don't let the dumpster in the front parking lot scare you away. Just stop in. Nothing fancy, just good quality food, sizable portions, at a reasonable price.

Great gyros, great pizza, great wings... You can't go wrong here! Try the saganaki bites, one of my favorite snack foods around.
